The Tauern Cycling Path is probably the most famous route in the Tauern region. It is the path that laid the foundation for the region to become a real biking paradise. This family-friendly cycling path is known as one of the most stunning routes in all of Europe, taking you along the Salzach river from Krimml to Passau and back to the starting point. In total the path stretches to 270 kilometres of pure cycling pleasure.

Stunning e-bike routes in Salzburg Land
Salzburg Land is equipped to welcome avid e-bikers or those who’d like to try out the sport for fun. We have a well-marked network of cycling paths and e-bike routes, as well as plenty of charging points and battery exchange stations along the way. The many service stations and rental shops in the region will gladly provide competent support and help you find the right bike. If you are looking for a care-free riding experience, the Hohe Tauern National Park is the right choice for you.

The Tauern bike region: a paradise for road cyclists
The Gerlos Pass, Felbertauern Road and Grossglockner High Alpine Road make perfect road cycling challenges. The latter provides for an epic adventure, with 26 turns and over 1,700 metres of elevation gain to be completed. Timing is provided, so you can even turn this into a competition. Your reward? Fantastic views of the Glockner mountain and glacier scenery. Discover the panoramic Thurn Pass, which takes you to beautiful Kitzbühel. If you still have some energy left, you can even continue up to the spectacular Kitzbüheler Horn.
Tip for ambitious riders
The Tauern Cycle Path recently received its challenging counterpart in the form of a racing version for road cyclists. While the original path takes you across gravel, the race route runs parallel along paved roads.
